What Banks feel about Civic Associations
Things Civic Associations Don't want you to know
As you can see we private development with issues are nation wide. From researching this subject on the Internet I have found a lot of states are slowly responding to this growing problem and enacting laws giving rights to homeowners and limiting anal boards rights. There is even movement here in our state to enact such laws.

Dear Fellow IML Property Owner,
I am writing this to let you know even now as a Board Member I realize how complacent people can become. Membership turn out is at best sporadic and always 98.9% of the time the same members. We have a lot more to get done. Better and fair Rules and Regulations. Bylaws that are easy to read and understand. Covenants that are up date. Fair rights for property owners. Why can't we fence in our backyards to protect our children or to allow ones dog to have the run of they yard or to try to keep the deer out to plant a garden?
Board members change and we've already had some directors leave because of other conflicts in their lives and we could not get any members to step up to be a volunteer for that area. Like the Rock Band Who said “MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS”. If you don't keep up and stay active in the going ons in the community you can wake up to find a whole new group of people in, doing things that are less than desirable.
You might as well think of IML as a small township within itself and just like your local government, if you don't take the time to keep up with what's going on and vote you can easily find yourself wondering “hey how come my taxes are going up?” or “what's this story about possible corruption?”. A lot has been accomplished for the better in the last couple of years but we can be even better if we have more people get involved to help out. Even if you have a hectic schedule which I know most of us do, even if you just take some time to help your neighbor, you're helping better the community at large. After the definition of community is a group of people living together and helping each other.
Even small things like keeping an eye out on your street and if you see anything suspicious report it. With the world changing as it is, with more crime, even in our little corner it is very important. If you are home during the day and you are in an area where a lot of children pass on their way to and from the bus I encourage you to contact Office and get involved in the “Safe Home” program he is starting. It's little things like this that can hopefully turn the tide and make IML an even safer and better community that we can all be proud to call home.
“Freedom is not Free!” Truer words were never spoken, if we want to maintain and enjoy our freedoms we need to defend them in any way that we can. If you don't get involved and fight for the freedoms we enjoy then they will gradually go away and we could find ourselves back where we were a few years ago with rules like the $250 fine for leaving toys on the lawn, or rules that determine what kind and how many lawn decorations you can have and so on.
Another way to get involved is to participate in the Social Activities that are held usually each month at the clubhouse. These are always fun and a great way to meet you neighbors and possibly some new friends. Hope to see you there and be an active part of the community rather than just an anonymous homeowner.
Remember it is your home and property and you should have basic rights to its use not some one else.
